About the Craftsman: Robert Dunfee
"I became interested in working with wood as a child. I would watch my father and grandfather take a tree and mill it to make whatever was on their minds. As I got older, I was taught to listen to the wood to create my treasures. I loved the smells, the feel of wood and tools in my hands.
"You would think that I would have made woodworking a profession. Instead, I became an electrician, then a paramedic. After retiring several years ago, I went back to my love for wood. I value handcrafting an item from a pallet or slab of wood. It's fulfilling to start with a conceptual picture and turn it into reality.
"To reclaim wood and transform it into a handcrafted item is my art."
